I-Updates on the health promoters:

-          Phase II training

As a request from the health promoters, Proyecto Salud is restructuring the project. Instead of adding new health promoters in the fall, they are investing in the growth and skills of the current 30 health promoters by providing a Phase II training focusing on internal leadership, social determinant of health, skill building.

-          Mentors support

It was also suggested by the health promoters that the “mentors model” needed to be more organized. Some health promoters are recognizing the need to have more close contact with a mentor,  in addition to a better communication system.

-          Health Promoter’s Coordinator

Starting August Proyecto Salud has a new volunteer in this position

Suggested Support from the action team:

- Together with Proyecto Salud the action team can help to recruit professionals within the MLHC that could support the second phase training (skills: group facilitation, event planning….)

-The action team can help to recruit professionals for the project  “One day with a Professional” where the health promoters would shadow a health professional for a full work day.

II-Proyecto Salud’s logo:

-          Together with the graphic designer Lucia Lozano Proyecto Salud is developing a personalized logo for Proyecto Salud and the HP.

Suggested Support from the action team:

-Help to find funds for the health promoters: T-shirts, business cards, News Letters …

III-Cooperativa

After consulting with a business planner, the cooperativa might not be the best solution for the health promoters at this point. Lydia Lopes is now working on presenting a proposal to the health promoters of business planning for next steps.

Suggested Support from the action team:

As part of the business planning and market strategies, it will be necessary to develop a report on possible opportunities of work for the health promoters. (Hospitals, School System, research…)

The action team can develop this based on the MLHC member.  (For more info talk to Lydia and Ana Paula)

Second Part:

Mentor project:

With the support of the health promoters’ mentor Barb Wesson we come up with some suggesting of how to improve the mentor/health promoter relationship.

Next steps:

Assign action team members into the possible support roles described above.
